About Me

My name is Colton,

I have been working in audio, video, and production for over 15 years. I received my bachelor's degree from Black Hills State University and my master's in mass communication from South Dakota State University. I have had the privilege in working with large scale productions during my time with several organizations and during this time, I have been able to learn a lot about electronics and production practices. This brand has allowed me to extend what I know to those who need help.

Lately, I have been feeling the need to use my skills more and to be creative again. Recently, I have been blessed with an opportunity to work with South Dakota Public Broadcasting in a full-time position, but this meant stepping away from production and creation as I focused on the engineering side of things. This has allowed me to learn so much from the amazing engineering crew at SDPB in a very short amount of time. Now, I am very excited to announce the launch of Blue Norther, which is name derived from the cold fronts that are experienced on the Great Plains of North America. I have to thank the book The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan for telling me about that and the book itself is a great read.
